Update from Iraq January 13, 2009

Hi, everybody. Yesterday I was invited by 5 Iraqi officers to promote
each to the next higher rank. I promoted a General, a Colonel, 2
Lieutenant Colonels, and a Lieutenant. After the reading of the orders,
it is the tradition in the Iraqi Army to pour candy over the heads of
those getting promoted. They even read an order promoting me to Staff
Brigadier General in the Iraqi Army!!! It was a really fun morning for
me and I was very honored to be asked to promote these outstanding men.
